This past Saturday we had the pleasure to be invited to the second Annual Wolfsville Chainsaw Carving and Artisans festival as a vendor. The event was held at Wolfsville Ruritan Park, which is in Frederick County near Myersville, MD. This is a fantastic park. There are picnic areas, playgrounds, a baseball field, and a natural stream. This park is a community park maintained by the Wolfsville Ruritans. Proceeds from the event went to support the Ruritan community.
When we arrived at 8:30 am, the vendor area which was on a baseball field was already bustling. We had to wait for a few people to finish unloading before we could get to our spot. We brought Yuki with us and were a little apprehensive of how she would behave around a crowd of people and likely other dogs. This outing was the first time using the new 10x10 pop up. It is a little bit difficult to open and get extended for one person. Since Yuki was with us that meant someone had to hold her leash. Luckily all of our neighbors were quick to help with the setup.
The event commenced promptly at 10:00 am, showcasing a diverse array of artisan vendors, including chainsaw wood carving artists, blacksmiths, and knife makers, alongside purveyors of handmade art such as paintings, flower arrangements, and crafts..
The Ruritans sold breakfast and lunch. We had only hotdogs and sodas, but they were also selling something called a slippery pot pie. Which we believe is pot pie filling without the pie crust. Their pot pie is very popular. We saw many people eating it and the cooks were steadily pumping it out all day, with a constant line for food. At the end of the day we did pick up a quart. We put it in the deep freezer to have at a later date.
As Rachel was working her stand throughout the day Charles and Yuki walked around meeting people, watching the chainsaw guys, talking to other vendors, and hiking in the woods. It was a long day for Yuki but she had so much fun and was a very good girl.
Our vendor neighbor Leigh Anderson was selling homemade dog, cat, and chicken treats. She kept telling us how good of a dog Yuki is. We don’t usually buy homemade treats for Yuki because she is a very picky eater and likely won’t eat them. Leigh gave us a sample to see if Yuki would like it and she really loved it.
We bought a few packs of dog cookies for her since she was such a good girl. Those cookies are made from whole wheat flour, peanut butter, eggs, sweet potato, and cinnamon. If you have a dog, cat or even chickens, contact Leigh to see what fantastic treats she has available 301-748-031
Rachel needed a snack and conveniently another neighbor of ours, Frosted Dream Bakery was selling cupcakes. The gluten free cupcake was one of the best cupcakes she’s ever had. Later this week Rachel emailed the owner Jess to order a few dozen more cupcakes for another event. We definitely recommend picking up some cupcakes or baked goods for your next event. We also wanted to mention Chainsaw Wood Sculptures by Mandy and Joe Stebbing. These carvings they make are beyond amazing. Check out these photos of some of the fantastic sculptures they had for sale:
Charles briefly talked to Joe and was told that they are out of Thurmont, MD. Their phone number is (301) 712-7826. Joe’s Facebook page is:

Despite the threat of rain, it was a fantastic day. Rachel’s Rosemary Hair Serum proved to be particularly popular, alongside curated mothers day gift baskets, and hand crafted lip balms. You can purchase any of these items online.
